Join WG-80 / SAE AE-5CH Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Systems New Activity on Hydrogen Fueling Stations for Airports

Hydrogen fueling processes, including fuel temperature, maximum flow rate, and duration, are influenced by factors such as ambient temperature, fuel delivery temperature, and initial pressure in the hydrogen storage system. At airports, mobile fueling trailers and stationary hydrogen fueling stations, akin to conventional hydrocarbon fuels, will be present.

WG-80 aims to develop standardisation for the proper use of hydrogen technologies in aerospace. This development encompasses all aspects of hydrogen handling, including airport operations such as fueling, transport, and storage. Harmonisation with existing standards efforts is crucial to promote widespread acceptance of these technologies in aviation.

The objective is to commence with a comprehensive report on hydrogen fueling, followed by the establishment of a family of documents covering various fueling categories as determined by WG-80/AE-5CH.

EUROCAE is launching this Call for Participation to notify interested organisations and experts about this new deliverable and invite them to submit their interest in participation in this activity. Collaborate with WG-116 on "Test Guidelines for Electrical Insulation Materials and Components in High Voltage Systems"

WG-116 is tasked to define new standards for high voltage systems and components in aircraft. These standards are needed for the industry and the certification authorities to develop and certify new designs for electrical and hybrid aircraft, where electrical voltages will be much higher than the current standards. Different aspects of the use of high voltage will need to be evaluated, and the Working Group will need to identify what are the standardisation needs for high voltage.

The objective of the document is to describe the main ageing mechanisms that will occur in high voltage system and components, in order to help system and equipment designer to take into account these phenomena in their risks analysis and life duration assessment.

The joint EUROCAE and SAE Working Group is looking for experts in the following areas to contribute to this effort:

  • Material expertise especially in insulating materials
  • Electrical system expertise
  • Aerospace electrical equipment design expertise
