ED-292A supersedes ED-292 “Minimum Aviation System Performance Standards (MASPS) for Runway Weather Information Systems”, issued in December 2021. This document specifies the minimum performance requirements for Runway Weather Information Systems (RWIS) to implement the relevant ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) and EASA regulations related to managing, monitoring, assessing and reporting the conditions of the aerodrome movement areas. The requirements for the specified technological methods are aligned with the ICAO Global Reporting Format (GRF).

The document has been updated with consideration of in-service operational experience along with technology developments which have increased the overall industry understanding of the topic of runway condition reporting, since the publication of ED-292 in 2021.
