EUROCAE Open Consultation ED-256 Vol. II

We are pleased to announce the availability of the following draft EUROCAE document prepared by EUROCAE WG-75 “Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance Systems (TCAS)” for Open Consultation:

Draft ED-256 Vol. II “Minimum Operational Performance Standards for Airborne Collision Avoidance System X (ACAS X) – Volume II – Algorithm Design Description”

ACAS X is an airborne collision avoidance system designed to reduce the risk of mid-air collision while minimizing unnecessary alerts. The ACAS X design consists of two main modules: (1) the Surveillance and Tracking Module (STM), which detects aircraft in the vicinity and tracks their position, and (2) the Threat Resolution Module (TRM), which identifies threats and provides resolution guidance. This document provides the Algorithm Design Description (ADD) for both ACAS X modules.

The document as well as the forms are posted on the EUROCAE workspace.

You are invited to review the proposed draft and complete the comment form. Early replies are encouraged.
