Reactivation of WG-104 SWIM Services: Calling All Experts!

Dear Expert,

On 10 October, the EUROCAE Council approved the reactivation of WG-104 SWIM Services.

Context:

EUROCAE ED-254 ‘Arrival Sequence Service Performance Standard’ supports the implementation of Extended Horizon AMAN by means of a SWIM Service, as mandated in CP1. Consequently, ED-254 is referenced as a means of compliance in the draft SESAR Deployment Programme Update 2024. In parallel, EU IR 2023/1768 establishes a certification/declaration framework for ATM/ANS ground equipment, wherein equipment supporting Extended AMAN is subject to a Statement of Compliance, and ED-254 is listed among the standards to demonstrate compliance against, ref DS SoC.005 Extended Arrival Management (EAMAN).

WG-104 is tasked with updating ED-254 in line with the experience gained during early implementations of the Standard. This will ensure that the standard is fit for purpose, even in the dynamic environment of CP1 and beyond. Much like other modern technical standards relating to data exchange, ED-254 contains elements that are natively machine-readable. Publishing such elements in a printed, human-readable format such as PDF, can no longer be considered best practice. Consequently, EUROCAE intends to seek a repository solution to enable users to fetch and implement machine-readable elements directly.

Call for Participation:

We are looking forward to nominations of experts, in particular (but not limited to) in the following areas:

SWIM ANSP Technical-Operational ATM Systems Experts: Familiar with ATC-ATC data communication exchanges and protocols, and their client operational applications, particularly Arrival Management. Developers, System Architects and Software Engineers: Experienced in implementing service-oriented architectures utilizing HTTP, SOAP and AMQP protocols. Representatives of ATM Operational Stakeholders: Optimally possessing experience in ATC/ATM operations.

The Kick-off Meeting for WG-104 is scheduled for 17 December 2024 at the EUROCAE Offices in Paris.

Express your interest here.
