We are pleased to announce the availability of the following draft EUROCAE document prepared by EUROCAE WG-105 – SG-1 – Detect and Avoid:
- ED-343 – “MOPS for DAA Radar in class A-G Airspaces under IFR“
This document contains Minimum Operational Performance Standards (MOPS) for airborne Detect and Avoid (DAA) radar, specifically for use as a non-cooperative sensor within a DAA system in accordance with ED-329.
Its purpose is to specify the minimum performance expected from airborne DAA radar used to support Detect and Avoid functions, contributing to the development of a complete set of DAA standards for operations in Class A-G airspaces under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR).
The document forms part of the ongoing development of DAA standards within WG-105 SG-1. The OSED has already been published, while the MASPS is being expanded from Class A-C to Class A-G through ED-271A, and ED-329 is being initiated to cover DAA functions. This document addresses the radar sensor aspect of the DAA system and contributes to completing the standards framework for non-cooperative sensors.
Compliance with this standard is recommended as one means of assuring that the equipment will perform its intended function(s) satisfactorily under all conditions normally encountered in routine aeronautical operation. This minimum operational performance specification is designed to ensure that equipment compliant with it will obtain the necessary regulatory approval.
