We are pleased to announce the availability of the following draft EUROCAE document prepared by EUROCAE WG-105 SG-3 – UTM:
- ED-347 – “Technical standard defining the interface between the UAS operator and the Network Identification Service“
The European Commission regulation on U-space (Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/664 of 22 April 2021) mandates in its Article 8 a Network Identification Service. This is one of the four mandatory services supporting the operation of UAS within U-space airspace, as defined in Article 3 of the Regulation.
The recommended way forward is the development of a technical standard defining the interface between the UAS Operator and the Network Identification Service, fully aligned with ASTM F3411-22a where relevant. The technical standard will cover protocol specifications, data security implementation requirements, performance considerations and supporting technology considerations.
WG-105 UAS SG-3 UTM is responsible for developing the technical standard for Network Identification Services.
It is recognised that the technical standard will not only be used by manufacturers, but also by U-space Service Providers, UAS operators, ANSPs and regulators to support implementation and interoperability within the U-space ecosystem. As such, considerations as well as recommendations and options are included to support a range of operational and technical deployment choices.
