GNSS Multi Elements Antenna

GNSS antennas are significant contributors to GNSS aviation performance. This WG is tasked with the development of standards supporting Multi Elements Antenna Technologies, initially focusing on Controlled Radiation Pattern Antenna (CRPA) technology. This new work will support increased GNSS resiliency when used in airborne operations while initially aiming to minimise/avoid changes to receiver specifications. Effort shall be made to develop requirements and procedures that will enable required levels on integrity and applicable levels of continuity and accuracy to be achieved as observed at the output of a GNSS airborne equipment.

Once CRPA technology is addressed, if necessary, future capabilities entailing relevant changes to antenna and receiver specifications will be considered as a subsequent step.

To do so the WG should consider that:
• The required level of performances already specified in existing GNSS antennas MOPS and receiver MOPS should be considered and a new standard should be developed.

• The first task of the WG is to ensure compliance with international export control regulations and to avoid any infringement of such regulations.
CRPAs for PNT are planned to fall under much less restrictive export administration regulations (EAR) under the jurisdiction of the US Department of Commerce. In allowing CRPAs for PNT, the US Department of State intends to facilitate civil global navigation system resiliency. The change in US regulations became effective as of Sept. 15th, 2025.

Coordination should be ensured with other related working groups, such as WG-28, WG-62, WG-85, WG-105, WG-41 and WG-51.
