This document specifies the minimum performance requirements for low-range radio altimeters. The term radio altimeter is intended to cover all types of altimeters which operate by emitting radio frequency energy in such a manner that it is reflected from the ground below the aircraft back to an associated receiver whatever the characteristics of the modulation pattern of that energy may be.
