EUROCAE was honoured to contribute to the 42nd ICAO Assembly, that took place in Montreal. Our Director General, Anna von Groote, presented Working Paper 332 on behalf of EUROCAE, RTCA Inc., SAE International, and ARINC IA. The paper highlights the need for a renewed strategic partnership between ICAO and Standards Making Organizations (SMOs) to support a more coherent, efficient, and future-ready global aviation framework.
“We are working to reactivate and reinforce the ICAO Standards Roundtable as the cornerstone of this coordination. It serves as a vital mechanism to align ICAO and SMO activities, prevent duplication, identify gaps, and accelerate the adoption of high-quality, validated standards across various levels”.
The ICAO Assembly is the Organisation’s sovereign body. It meets at least once every three years and is convened by ICAO’s governing body, the Council. ICAO’s 193 Member States and a large number of international organisations are invited to the Assembly, which establishes the worldwide policy of the Organisation for the upcoming triennium.
