EUROCAE and ETSI have signed an updated Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), reiterating their commitment to strengthen collaboration in the fields of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and aviation standardisation.
The agreement, signed by Anna von Groote, Director General of EUROCAE, and Jan Ellsberger, Director General of ETSI, reflects the shared ambition of both organisations to enhance interoperability and contribute to a globally harmonised information infrastructure.
Through this MoU, EUROCAE and ETSI establish a framework for closer cooperation, including the exchange of ideas and expertise, joint participation in technical activities, and reciprocal observer roles in relevant technical groups. The collaboration will support the development, ratification, and testing of globally applicable standards in areas of mutual interest, including WG-72 Aeronautical Systems Security, WG-82 New Air-Ground Data Link Technologies, WG-105 Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), WG-119 Radar Altimeters, and WG-124 Spectrum.
“This agreement marks an important milestone in our relationship with ETSI”, stated Anna von Groote, Director General of EUROCAE. “By combining our respective strengths and coordinating our standardisation activities, we can better support the European Union’s policies and contribute to the safe and efficient digital transformation of the aviation sector”.
Jan Ellsberger, Director General of ETSI, added: “We are pleased to formalise our cooperation with EUROCAE. Both organisations share a strong commitment to regional and international standardisation. This partnership will help avoid duplication of work, maximise synergies, and ultimately benefit all stakeholders by enabling the deployment of secure and interoperable ICT systems for aviation and beyond”.
This enhanced partnership reflects the evolving nature of the aviation ecosystem and the increasing importance of digital and communication technologies in delivering safe, sustainable, and connected skies.
