ED Distribution and Use Policy
Purpose of this Policy
This policy defines the default conditions under which published EUROCAE Deliverables and related material may be accessed, used, and handled by users.
Its purpose is to ensure a clear, fair, and consistent understanding of permitted uses, while protecting the intellectual property rights of EUROCAE.
This policy applies to all users who access or download EUROCAE Deliverables, whether as members or non-members.
Scope
This policy applies to all EUROCAE publications (here “EUROCAE Deliverables”), such as:
- EUROCAE Document (ED), EUROCAE Report (ER), including drafts where applicable;
- Supplementary material, that refers to any content that offers additional information related to an ED;
- Digital artefact, that refers to supplementary material which is machine-readable (e.g. data models, schemas, structured files).
Specific or extended uses beyond the scope of this policy may be authorised through a separate Licence of Use, granted by EUROCAE upon request.
Access to EUROCAE Deliverables
EUROCAE Deliverables are distributed digitally through the EUROCAE website.
They are free of charge for EUROCAE Full Members and available for purchase by Limited Member (with a discount) and non-members (full price). They are also available for purchase on IHS / Accuris website (primary reseller) with the same policy.
Each user must download their own copy of an ED/ER.
Permitted Use (default rights)
Unless explicitly authorised otherwise, users may:
- Access and consult EUROCAE Deliverables for internal purposes within their organisation;
- Use EUROCAE Deliverables to support internal engineering, design, certification, or compliance activities;
- Store EUROCAE Deliverables on internal, secure systems accessible only to authorised personnel;
- Process EUROCAE Deliverables using internal and secured tools, including AI-assisted tools, provided that the content is not exposed to external or public systems.
- Internal sharing within the same organisation is tolerated when it remains strictly within the scope of the organisation’s legitimate activities and does not result in uncontrolled redistribution.
Prohibited Use (without prior authorisation)
Unless explicitly authorised by EUROCAE through a Licence of Use, users shall not:
- Distribute, share, or provide EUROCAE Deliverables to third parties, including subcontractors, partners, or affiliates;
- Upload EUROCAE Deliverables, or any part thereof, to public, external, or shared platforms;
- Use EUROCAE Deliverables to train, fine-tune, or feed public or shared Artificial Intelligence or machine-learning models;
- Reproduce, extract, or reuse substantial parts of a EUROCAE Deliverable in external documents, products, services, or commercial offerings;
- Remove, alter, or obscure any watermark, copyright notice, or traceability mechanism.
Use by Subcontractors and Third Parties
Subcontractors and third parties must obtain their own authorised access to the relevant EUROCAE Deliverables.
Access through indirect sharing by a member organisation is not permitted, unless explicitly authorised through a Licence of Use.
Supplementary material and digital artefacts
Supplementary material and digital artefacts referenced in an ED are covered by the same intellectual property and usage rules as the ED itself, unless stated otherwise.
- Supplementary material refers to any content that offers additional information related to an ED.
- Digital artefact refers to supplementary material which is machine-readable (e.g. XML, JSON, HTML files, schemas).
Users are responsible for ensuring that such material is handled in accordance with this policy and is not redistributed or exposed beyond authorised use.
Use of Artificial Intelligence Tools
EUROCAE recognises that AI-assisted tools may provide internal support to users.
Such tools may be used only if they are:
- internal to the organisation;
- secured and not accessible to third parties;
- configured so that EUROCAE Deliverable is not retained, shared, or reused outside the organisation.
Uploading or indexing EUROCAE Deliverables into public, external, or shared AI systems is strictly prohibited.
Responsibility and Traceability
The organisation identified in the watermark or download record is legally responsible for any use or misuse of the EUROCAE Deliverables by its employees or representatives.
In case of misuse, unauthorised distribution, or data breach, the registered organisation may be held accountable.
Licence of Use (Extended or Specific rights)
Certain uses may require rights beyond those defined in this policy.
In such cases, users may request a Licence of Use from the EUROCAE Secretariat.
A Licence of Use is a specific agreement that authorises a defined use of a EUROCAE Deliverable within a clearly identified scope, context, and duration.
Granting of such licences is at the discretion of EUROCAE.
Updates to this Policy
EUROCAE may update this policy to reflect legal, technical, or organisational developments.
The latest version published on the EUROCAE website shall apply.
