We are pleased to announce the availability of the following draft EUROCAE document prepared by EUROCAE WG-75 – Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance Systems (TCAS):
- ED-355 – “MOPS for Cooperative Surveillance Systems”
The increasing deployment of smaller unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), rotorcraft, and VTOL platforms requires surveillance solutions capable of supporting safe and effective Detect and Avoid (DAA) operations.
This Minimum Operational Performance Specification (MOPS) defines the required performance for active cooperative surveillance systems using an omni-directional antenna. The document supports DAA applications consistent with operations enabled by ACAS Xu for unmanned aircraft systems and ACAS Xr for rotorcraft, contributing to enhanced airborne collision avoidance capabilities across a wider range of aircraft types.
WG-75 is responsible for developing Airborne Collision Avoidance System (ACAS) X standards as a joint EUROCAE/RTCA activity. Its work covers the different ACAS X variants, including ACAS Xa for commercial transport aircraft, ACAS Xo for specialised operational scenarios, ACAS Xu for unmanned aircraft, and interoperability requirements for collision avoidance systems of different designs.
It is recognised that this MOPS will be used by aircraft and avionics manufacturers, system developers, certification authorities, and other aviation stakeholders involved in the development, certification, and deployment of cooperative surveillance and Detect and Avoid systems.
You are invited to review the proposed draft on the EUROCAE Workspace and complete the comment form. If you are a non-member of EUROCAE, please register here (and click on “Access only to Open Consultation”). Early replies are encouraged.
