Call for Experts: WG-62, WG-67, WG-124 & WG-135

Join WG-62 and Develop Standards for the use of GNSS-aided Inertial Systems in Civil Aviation Applications

WG-62 is considering adding a new MOPS for Dual-Frequency Multi-Constellation (DFMC) GNSS Aided Inertial Systems to their work programme, which should be developed jointly with RTCA SC-159/SG-2C. This will include inertial systems, attitude heading reference systems, aided by DFMC GNSS signals, to address the intentional RFI threats with performances requirements for detection, mitigation and recovery claims by GNSS-aided inertial systems.

WG-62 is looking for additional experts to work on the new MOPS. The group is also looking for editors to help preparing the new MOPS.

If you are interested, please contact the responsible Technical Programme Manager Mark Watson.

WG‑67 VoIP for ATM Seeks Specialists for New VoIP Cybersecurity Standards

Voice communications play a crucial role in Air Traffic Management (ATM). In this context, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) for ATM is the ideal solution to provide interoperability especially for the air-ground communications where several adjacent ATC centres belonging to different ANSPs share a ground radio station.

After the publications of ED-136, ED-137 and ED-138, as from 2009, and latest updates of ED-137C published in May 2020, the current objective of WG-67 is to update ED-136 and ED-138. ED-136A will address the introduction of a number of safety critical services and related environments for the application of VoIP for ATM such as remote ATSU operations, contingency scenarios, cross-border dynamic airspace configuration, flight centric operations, RPAS voice services and will allocate safety and performance requirements for each of these services. ED-138A will include the feedback received from current implementations on security and performance associated requirements. ANSPs are using this document as the specification of their Networks.

In January 2026, EUROCAE Technical Advisory Committee approved the establishment of sub-group 7 of EUROCAE WG-67 entrusted with the development of a new volume 6 of ED-137C Interoperability Standard for VOIP ATM Components that will contain VoIP in ATM cybersecurity provision. As a result, WG-67 is currently seeking participation to this newly established SG-7 from both industry and ANSPs with background and knowledge of encryption technology used in communication systems.

If you are interested, please contact the responsible Technical Programme Manager Andrea Trimarchi.

Contribute to WG-124’s New Document on Spectrum

EUROCAE WG-124 and RTCA SC-242 are currently seeking additional expert participants to support the development of ED-XXX “Spectrum Guidance for Developers of Standards for Aviation Wireless Systems”.

This joint Working Group is focused on ensuring that the radio frequency (RF) characteristics of aeronautical Communications, Navigation, and Surveillance (CNS) systems are designed to use spectrum resources efficiently while maintaining the necessary safety margins. The Guidance Document will provide best practices to help the aviation industry work collaboratively with non-aviation spectrum users and ensure the safe integration of new technologies, an essential step toward advancing the aviation ecosystem.

The group is especially looking for experts involved in the design of RF avionics equipment. Their input will ensure that the guidance reflects a practical engineering perspective, especially in terms of spectrum compatibility and technical feasibility. The ultimate goal is to deliver a document that is both actionable and implementable by RF systems engineers across the industry.

If you are interested in this Working Group, please contact the responsible Technical Programme Manager Mark Watson.

Join the New Working Group 135 and Advance the Global CRL Framework for Emerging Aviation Technologies

EUROCAE is launching WG‑135 to develop the Certification Readiness Level (CRL) Scale, a new and structured framework designed to help both industry and regulators assess how ready a technology, an organisation, and the associated regulatory pathway are for certification.

While existing frameworks such as TRL, MRL, IRL, and SRL measure technological or manufacturing maturity, none of them address certifiability. As disruptive aviation technologies continue to accelerate, this missing dimension is becoming increasingly significant for the sector.

The Clean Aviation CONCERTO project introduced the first CRL concept, assessing not only the maturity of a technology but also the readiness of organisations, processes, and competencies. WG‑135 will build on this foundation by refining the scale and expanding it into a globally recognised standard, suitable for airworthiness, operations, ATM, and even ICAO‑level applications.

WG‑135 will refine and formalise the Certification Readiness Level framework, incorporating global expert input to enhance the current scale. It will develop a recognised international standard that evaluates certification maturity across technologies, organisations, people, and processes. It will also establish a common language for certification readiness, enabling earlier identification of challenges and better alignment of expectations between industry and regulators

The Working Group is seeking experts with backgrounds in certification and rulemaking, safety and system development, emerging aviation technologies, maturity assessment frameworks such as TRL or MRL, as well as regulatory strategy and compliance. Leadership positions (Chair, Secretary, and Document Lead) are also open to interested contributors.

If you are interested, please contact the responsible Technical Programme Manager Atiqah Pillain. Participants will be invited to the kick-off meeting held at the EUROCAE Headquarters on 31 March 2026.
