EUROCAE Software Considerations
Seven sequential documents defining the software considerations for various domains, prepared by EUROCAE Working Group 71, were approved by the EUROCAE Council in January.Three documents define the software considerations for three application domains:
- ED-12C: software considerations in airborne systems and equipment certification (published)
- ED-109A: software integrity assurance considerations for Communication, Navigation, Surveillance and Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) Systems
- ED-215: software tool qualification considerations
They are completed by three supplements which contain modifications and additions to ED-12C or ED-109A objectives, activities, explanatory text, and software life cycle data that should be addressed when specific approaches are used as part of the software life cycle:
- ED-216: Model-Based development and verification supplement to ED-12C and ED-109A
- ED-217: Object-Oriented Technology and related techniques supplement to ED-12C and ED-109A
- ED-218: Formal Methods supplement to ED-12C and ED-109A
The last document addresses the questions of both the industry and authorities related to the previous documents. It contains frequently asked questions (FAQs), discussion papers (DPs), and rationale:
